INTRODUCTION

The Tigers lose game three of the series to the Yankees 4-2. This concludes the series played in Detroit where the Yankees took 2/3 of the games.

PITCHING

Skubal started this game for the Tigers going six innings nine strikeouts and zero walks. So how did he lose this game. The long ball! The long ball kills. While Skubal pitched a nice game giving up only four hits three of those hits were home runs. That is not winning baseball and he has given up many home runs since coming back from the IL.

The relief pitching for the Tigers did their jobs finishing the game out with no runs given up and very few baserunners for the last three innings.

HITTING

The Tigers were shut down by Ryan Weathers who went 6 innings of 2 run ball. The Tigers struggled today when they got runners in scoring position going 1-7 in that scenario.

The one problem that I have been screaming about since writing about losses from teams is runners Left On Base. The Tigers had this problem leaving nine runners on base. In a game as close as this one baserunners matter so much and you must score those base runners.

CONCLUSION

The Tigers went into this series hoping to get some more momentum as they swept the White Sox in the previous series. They end up losing 2/3 to the Yankees and have lost momentum dropping to 34-46 on the year.
