INTRODUCTION

The battle for the west was this weekend where the mariners and Rangers faced off in a four game series. The Rangers ended up winning the series taking three out of four from the Mariners.

HITTING

The Rangers implemented a strategy in the game today of score early and then not at all the rest of the game. Led by Joc Pederson and his 2 home run performance. They scored quickly putting up all seven runs in the first three innings of the contest.

This is a bold strategy and a very risky one as some teams have the hitting to keep up with that and will comeback. Luckily for the Rangers the Mariners have no hitting and they do not come back when they are down. The Rangers will need to be more consistent in games and overall in the season as they have been very up and down this season. They will need to be better.

PITCHING

It is very easy for teams get relaxed when pitching with a big lead. But these guys did not and stayed very good only giving up 3 runs in the game. That will set teams up for success in the long run and keep you in games and in the season overall.

CONCLUSION

The Rangers improve their record to 54-52 on the season and maintaing sole position of first place in the west. While they are winning the west they have not been great this season starting slow and still playing well enough to be above .500 for the season. They will need to be better come postseason time in order to make a good run this season.
