The ABS system or the automatic ball strike system has taken over the MLB this year. With many wondering if this is a good thing for baseball or not.

My answer is that I believe it is good for baseball. Many umpires for the longest time have taken advantage of being the end all be all for the strike zone. It is time to hold umpires accountable.
Umpires Unchecked
Umpires for too long have been the end all be all of the strike zone. It is theirs they make the strike zone. And do not argue with them over if their call is wrong or not. Their choice was final and to argue meant you could get thrown out of the game.
Well not anymore with ABS players who argue with umpires can finally be proven right. You can challenge any strike or ball call at least twice a game for each team. Of course you only get two challenges unless you get them right you can get them back.
This will limit arguments between pitchers and umpires as well as between umpires and batters. Hey if you get the call right as an umpire and they challenge it then you get proven right. But get it wrong and they challenge it then finally you get told you are wrong and just have to accept that.
Why Is This Good
This is good for baseball because too long have games been decided by bad calls. Too many games have been decided by umpires and their bad calls simply because they do not want to be there.
As the game goes on the umpires strike zone expands and expands. By the end the zone is much larger than it really is. Well no more now the strike zone is the strike zone and that is final.
I think that both sides will develop a mutual respect for one another. No one is perfect but some calls just cannot get overlooked anymore. Arguments will be lower and I believe that umpires will only get better at their jobs as this keeps going on. No one wants to look stupid in front of thousands of people but sometimes to make the game better you need to do just that.
