The Denver Broncos had a very good season last year finishing 14-3 and making it all the way to the AFC championship game. With that there is always room to improve for any team even ones that made it as far as the Broncos did. They have 12 players this offseason that are UFAs and some of them they need to sign back.

Some of the players that they will need back are on the defensive side of the ball the side that in my opinion they do not need as much there. The key players that they need to sign back are McMillian, Fanklin-Myers, Singleton, and P.J Locke on the defensive side of the ball. These were key contributors this past season and a big reason for why they were one of the best units on defense. Signing back JK Dobbins would be a big help for the running back room. Having him back with Harvey would be a great tandem of running backs for this coming up season.

Some players I feel we do not need, as much as I like Trautman he is not essential for the next season. Engram is a decent tight end although I would not be against trying to move him for some draft capital. Our offensive line is great and does not need any work as it is one of the best in the league. What does need some work is our receiver core. Our receivers had the second most drops in the league and that needs to be worked on. Sutton is a very good receiver and Pat Bryant is a good rookie. But again they had the second most drops in the league and they need to work on that and some additions to that core such as a new tight end can make a world of difference for the team.

With Bo Nix going into his third year the thought is that Payton will expand the playbook even more this coming up season. If he is still content playing it too safe again calling screen after screen after screen then I believe that play calling duties should be pulled away from him. You can not be content with just playing it safe, this coming up season expand the playbook and allow Nix to do what he does best which is extending plays.

If the Broncos make these few changes in the offseason adding some new pieces to beef up the receiver core can allow the Broncos to take the next step. They just need to work on a few things that they were not the best at and be more consistent on offense. Another year of trust built up between Nix and Payton may just do that and open up the play calling on offense.
