The superbowl recap

Landon Myers

First off, congrats to the Seattle Seahawks on their second superbowl victory in franchise history. Kenneth Walker III (K9) took home the superbowl MVP tonight putting up 27 carries for 135 yards, as well as 2 catches for 26 yards. The Seahawks played a clean game on offense, not having any turnovers and only giving up one sack the entire game. The defense played excellent tonight nicknamed the dark side and they showed it tonight. They had six sacks and 3 total turnovers throughout the game as well as scoring a touchdown on a pick six.

The Seahawks played a complete game tonight the defense and special teams really came through for the Seahawks. Sam Darnold played a clean game he did not need to be excellent for the team to win he played exactly how he needed to for the team to win. Sam Darnold left a lot on the field missing some guys on passes and early on he looked like he was turning into Sam Darnold of old but he came through in the moments that mattered. He had 202 yards and a passing touchdown for Seattle. Jason Myers tacked on 5 field goals in the game, most in a superbowl ever, as well as 2 extra points in this game. He had 17 total points becoming the first player in NFL history with over 200 points scored in a season including the playoffs, cementing his 2025-2026 season as one of the best by a kicker in terms of points scored.

The defense man of man what a defense there is not just one guy on that defense that is dominant. They are a true unit of 11 guys on that side of the ball all playing together and they all eat from the same plate. They had pressure on Drake Maye nearly every play and had him running around like a chicken with his head cut off. That defense is young and if they can keep most of their guys they’ll be contenders for years to come.

The first thing to say is congrats to the Patriots for making it this far this season, it is extremely difficult to make it this far. All that said, everything that was falling the Patriots way this postseason did not fall their way in the biggest game of the season. Drake Maye did not play his best game in the superbowl and his final stat line of 295 yards 2 touchdowns came after being down 22-7. He was in the face of pressure all night and did not react well to it. He was inaccurate and running into sacks a lot. With that being said Drake Maye is very young and he had a great season this year he will grow from this and have a very good career in the NFL. The offensive line of the Patriots this whole postseason has been getting beaten up by very good defenses and that did not change against the Seahawks. The defense played good but not great against Seattle holding Seattle to a lot of field goals. It was a very much a bend don’t break kind of defensive game tonight. Christian Gonzalez played excellent as the Patriots best player he kept JSN from going off like crazy like he has all season long.

This game showed the strengths and weaknesses of both teams and showed who was the true better team. The Seahawks were the best team throughout the season and they have a lot of younger pieces on the team and they should be good for a little while longer. They will lose pieces because of the big contracts that they will demand but that does not take away from the superbowl. It is really difficult to repeat but this team if healthy could definitely make a big run next year as well.
